Reunion Weekend 2009

A warm evening in July greeted a bumper attendance of 215 former Wills men and women and their guests for a sherry reception in the quad and a splendid meal in the Dining Hall. Our eminent guest of honour and outspoken parliamentarian, Bob Marshall-Andrews, engaged our attention with his humour and some remarkable stories. Alongside him on the High Table was Professor Julian Rivers, our recently appointed new Warden, and his wife Caroline whom we welcomed enthusiastically. A selection of the photographs of the occasion taken by James Corbin, who graduated in the following week, shows the vibrancy of the occasion. Sunday’s service of Morning Prayer in the Monica Wills Chapel was led by Canon Lisle Sharp. Julian Rivers preached a sermon on why it matters how we build communities. After a refreshment interval in the Dining Hall we were handsomely rewarded by an entertaining recital by David Bednall, the sub-organist of Bristol Cathedral, given on the chapel organ donated last November by the Association.
