I hope that you are busy enjoying yourselves. I am sure you agree that it is a privilege to spend a year or two at Wills. Many students have fond memories of their time here. It will not surprise you that people often feel a lifelong attachment to this place and welcome the opportunity to stay in touch. You may be interested to know that current and former members of Hall are encouraged to join the Wills Hall Association.
We exist to keep members in touch with Wills and with each other. Every summer in July we hold a reunion and many former members enjoy the opportunity to return to Bristol. After drinks on the Warden's lawn we enjoy a black tie dinner in the dining hall and speech from a guest of honour. We also hold a London reception in the autumn for members and their guests. A similar reception is held in Bristol. We publish an end of year bulletin and a rather more weighty Yearbook early in the following spring.
We also exist to support the Warden and Students of Wills Hall. Over the years the WHA has donated many items to improve Hall life - most recently a sound system, staging, the portrait of Professor Phyllida Parsloe, a previous Warden and more recently the chapel organ. We keep in touch with Hall life in part by meeting twice a year with the JCR Committee.
We will be writing to each of you encouraging you to consider joining the WHA in due course. In the meanwhile the Committee joins me in sending you every good wish for the year ahead.
